Time to get back into fire! I will be offering classes starting May 22nd through June 26th 2022 in Gilbert AZ. Classes will be held from 5 to 7 PM every Sunday evening for 6 weeks, with 2 classes of fire safety after the 6 week course is completed. A little about myself: My entire life has involved some sort of prop art training and dance starting with dance, gymnastics, and baton twirling and later moving into martial arts. I have been teaching fire props in the valley since 2003, starting at the Domba studio/Plaza de Anaya in Tempe and most recently at the Core Cross Fit gym in Phoenix, as well as at my residence The Circus Farm. I have taught props all over the country traveling with the Extraterrestrial Circus. I have been a fire performer/dancer since 2002 and currently run the circus farm fire troupe. My classes offer fun, exercise, friendships, and a chance to perform your art for the community.
The classes available are:
Beginning Poi: This class is for people completely new to poi spinning. It will be a six-week course that will get you started on all the basics.
Beginning Staff: This class will also be six weeks and cover basics of staff spinning and beginning contact staff.
Fire Fans: This class is offered to all level’s beginner through advanced. We will focus on a different fan technical trick plus fundamentals of dance. This class will be a choreography class as well as technique. Advanced Props and Performance: This class will be a loosely structured class that will cater to the individual’s needs. Options for further learning can or may include: Staff, Poi, double staffs, dragon staff, fans, whatever you want to learn. Hula hoops may be an option TBA. Within this class I will be putting together group choreographies including various props and touch on stage presence, flow, and timing.
*To join the advanced class, you must have basics in poi or staff. Contact me for clarification.
Now for the best part!
This year classes will be held at Creator’s Space Studios, located at 1497 East Baseline Road, Ste 4-106 Gilbert AZ 85233. The price is $20 per week. You can take one of the classes listed or all the classes listed but the price will remain the same $20 per week. I highly recommend learning props together instead of separate because many moves translate to other props nicely.
Here is the schedule:
5 PM: Beginning Poi
5:30 PM: Beginning Staff
6 PM: Fire Fans
6:30 PM: Advanced Props and Performance
Fire safety training will be offered at this time for beginners after completing the six weeks of class and will be required for any new spinners to practice fire with us. Location will be The Circus Farm. Times TBA
I hope to see some old friends and make some new ones! Message me if interested or if you have any questions.
